Waterproof Coats You'll Actually Want To Wear This Fall

Stay dry in style.

While we might romanticize the showers of spring, there is nothing worse than a deluge in fall. During the light rains and mild temperatures building up to summer, you can generally risk forgoing an anorak altogether, opting instead for a practical purse-sized umbrella for just in case. However, as the days begin to shorten and the temperatures drop, that is no longer an option for everyone. For those of us for whom the upcoming months mean bitter winds and icy rains, be prepared for the downpours to come by investing in a genuinely water-tight coat that won't damage your street (style) cred.

We've done some digging to find the most stylish rainy-day outwear that is actually waterproof – no more of those Coachella ponchos that promise they'll keep you dry, only to have you soaked and shivering within minutes. The macs we picked out have all been specifically labelled as either waterproof, water-repellent, showerproof, shower-resistant or some variation thereof. In essence, they are guaranteed to keep you dry and comfortable in a number of different weather conditions.

In terms of the aesthetics, thank the fashion gods that several designers pioneered raincoats in their FW17 shows at the top of the year (which several other, less-expensive designers have since been "inspired" by). In particular we loved the transparent trenches on the Miu Miu and Calvin Klein runways that allow you to show off your finely curated ensemble underneath while keeping you bone-dry. We've also seen a proliferation of metallic macs and luxe vinyl designs, too, which will add a statment shine to any outfit.

Whether you want to channel you inner unicorn with a glittery lilac mac from New Look or rock a see-through style from Topshop, don't forget to pick up a parka this fall unless you want to risk arriving at work in a soggy sweater. Again.
