The skincare universe is expanding rapidly every day, with new treatments, products and technologies everywhere you look. But let’s be realistic and honest: most of us don’t have the time or money to splurge on regular spa trips, let alone try them all. The good news is that for every new treatment, there are countless (much cheaper) options you can do at home to pamper and relax your mind and body.

When it comes to masking, the options are endless: hair masks, mud masks, gel masks, sheet masks. And within those categories, the brands, styles and ingredients are infinite, so you’re bound to find something that works for you.

Sheet masks are a great bedtime treatment, because most of them require zero cleanup and the overnight soak will allow your skin to fully benefit from the hydrating qualities. Simply spread it across your face, remove after the allotted time and massage the remaining serum into your skin. Masks with retinol or Vitamin C like Andalou Naturals Instant Brighten & Tighten are better for nighttime use, too, because they make your skin more sensitive to the sun.

If you prefer a wash-off mask, apply it with a soft brush instead of your fingers to give it more of a spa feel. Some products, like Alchimie Forever’s Kantic Brightening Moisture Mask, are actually gentle enough to wear overnight as a sleeping mask, so you don’t even have to worry about rinsing it off before falling asleep.

For hair masks, we’re all about the new, grease-lightning options that can work their magic in the amount of time it takes to shave our legs: Gliss Kur Ultimate Repair Anti-Damage Hair Mask and Pantene’s Pro-V 3-Minute Miracle are both powerful, affordable in-shower masks that work at the speed of a conditioner.

Micro-needling, also known as derma-rolling, is a simple spa treatment that can be replicated identically at home. Poking your face with hundreds of tiny needles might seem intimidating and painful, but you barely feel the sensation, and the pros far outweigh the cons! The minuscule needles in a derma-roller make the slightest pinpricks, but the impact encourages your skin to produce more collagen, filling in wrinkles and plumping your skin for a youthful glow. Micro-needling also makes your serums more effective by helping them penetrate your skin’s barrier. Stacked Skincare makes a roller and accompanying serums for the full treatment, but you can also try a slightly cheaper option from Healthy Care along with any serum you already have in your beauty arsenal. The best thing about micro-needling is that it is a completely customizable treatment: your serums, your face, your choice. Our tip is to apply serum before and after rolling to give your skin an extra boost.

Bubble baths are the classic way to unwind at home, but classic doesn’t have to mean plain or boring. Add one of Lush's signature bath bombs to your tub for a relaxing soak before bed, or try Epsom Salts to give your muscles some relief after an intense workout (read: binging on Netflix).

If you’re not into bubble baths, bring the ancient secrets of the Turkish Hammam into your shower with an exfoliating glove and black soap. Dry-brushing is also a great way to show your skin some love – look out for one with a hand strap and long handle so you don’t miss a single spot. Doing so stimulates lymphatic drainage, gets rid of dry, patchy skin and supposedly works to alleviate pesky cellulite. Make sure to follow up any exfoliating treatment with a hydrating body lotion or oil.
