There’s a reason the pajama trend has been going strong for such a long time: it’s literally the dream outfit. It’s lightweight and roomy, making it supremely comfortable. The lustre fabric, especially with an all-over print, is unbelievably Italian-palazzo-princess chic. Besides any physical and aesthetic benefit, can you actually think of anything more satisfying than wearing pajamas to the office? Didn’t think so.

For many seasons now, the two-piece sleep suit has reigned supreme as a statement look. We’ve loved seeing it grace both the front rows and runways of Fashion Week, but there are only so many days (and nights) in a row you can rock the same look – unless you’re literally Homer Simpson. A new sartorial season is looming and it’s distinctly less balmy than the present one, so here are our styling tips to revamp your PJs for fall.

Scroll down to check out how we've re-styled our favorite summer pajama set to better suit the season:
Zara Pyjama Trousers - $50 And Pyjama Shirt - $40

The Shirt

A bold shirt is a great way to uplift any fall closet, so your pajama top is an ideal starting point for a fun fall look. Swap out the matching pants for a pair of jeans with details that tie in the palette and pattern of the top – in this case we’ve chosen a floral sequin patch in pink. Remember it’s not the dead of winter yet, so you can still get away with your favorite summer details like a straw bag for the weekend and babouche-style mules (provided it’s not raining). Avoid looking too summer-y by opting for darker-colored accessories.

The Pants

Make the most of wearing white before Labor Day (and beyond – because rules are made to be broken). As most modern pajama suits tend to be fairly colorful – case in point, our hot pink Zara set – white will make your whole outfit pop without saturating your palette.
