Paris Street Style: If Sailor Moon Were A Brooklyn Babe

She'd definitely wear Miu Miu.

Every week, we take to the streets of Paris to photograph and chat with the women and men whose sartorial instincts we’d love to steal. Meet the people who are turning the Parisian sidewalks into runways – and find out everything you need to get their look.

From the mustached hipsters sipping craft coffee in the 11th arrondissement to luxe department store Le Bon Marché's Brooklyn-themed artisanal collection, Paris' love affair with New York is no secret. However, us Parisians know very little of how the Big Apple feels about the city that recycles all their homegrown Williamsburg charm – until we met Kristen on the steps of Église Saint Roch. We were immediately taken by this Brooklyn babe's pairing of ultra-girly pastels with a bold lip and a Sailor Moon-style pendant, and were sold when we saw her flower-meets-Cheshire-Cat phone case. As it turns out, Kristen often makes the trip between NYC and Paris for Fashion Week (it's her sixth time here!) and is just as taken with the French capital as we are. But if it came down to choosing between her two loves, which city would emerge triumphant? "Sorry," she told us, "New York has my heart."

What is your name and where are you from?
My name is Kristen, I live in Brooklyn in New York City, and I'm a fashion writer.

Why did you choose to wear this outfit today?
My mom and I just flew into Paris today, and I didn't like the plain outfit I arrived in so I changed. This dress is really easy to wear – I've been styling a lot of denim mixed with floral prints. And my shoes are super comfortable, like I'm walking on a marshmallow!

How would you describe your personal style?
Eclectic and girly, but still edgy.

Are you wearing any pieces or accessories that are of special significance or that carry a story behind it?
My bag is from Miu Miu, except I switched out the plain lambskin strap for a strap from another Miu Miu purse – I change out bag straps quite often. I got my jacket from Monki's flagship store in Sweden. And there's a cool story behind this phone case, which is from a Hong Kong based brand called Candies Gifts. I got it when my mom and I were in Paris during Fashion Week back in March: we happened to walk into the TRANOÏ trade show, and I saw the brand there – I told them I was obsessed with them and follow them on Instagram, and so they actually sold this case to me at the wholesale price even though the products that were on display were technically only samples.

Where did you get your outfit?
The jacket is Monki, the dress is Molly Bracken, the bag is Miu Miu, the shoes are Marni, the phone case is Candies Gifts and I found the necklace at a vintage fair in Manhattan.
