Paris Street Style: How To Heal A Broken Heart

Turn it into a fashion collection.

Every week, we take to the streets of Paris to photograph and chat with the women and men whose sartorial instincts we’d love to steal. Meet the people who are turning the Parisian sidewalks into runways – and find out everything you need to get their look.

We got a little taste of summer in Paris last week, with blue skies, 10pm sunsets and the thermostat resting at a balmy 78 degrees. But the summer solstice hit the city like that train in Leo's dreams in Inception, with temperatures jumping to 98 just as the French capital was preparing for its annual (and, as it would turn out, sweat-drenched) all-night music party. While most Parisians abandoned their signature style in favor of care-free attire (think short shorts and barely-there camis), we came across Zuice as she emerged from a perfume boutique in the 1st arrondissement, with her hot-pink hair and outfit that was perfectly suited to this midsummer heat wave. We loved the playful flower print and the variety of textures she incorporated into her look, all grounded with a pair of comfy velcro kicks – and even more so when she told us the thoughtful story behind her self-designed shirt. This creative director and designer might have been a hopeless romantic at heart, but now she's all about restoration.

What is your name and where are you from?
My name is Zuice, I'm from Hong Kong, and I'm a creative director at ZIZTAR, a fashion brand that I started with my sister.

Why did you choose to wear this outfit today?
I started the day in another outfit but I changed into something cooler and more comfortable – Paris is boiling hot, it's so hard to maintain your style! I love incorporating different details and textures into my look with the 3D shirt and see-through shoes.

How would you describe your personal style?
Girly meets psychedelic, but I also have a different style every day depending on my mood and emotions. I could change outfits three times a day! It's just fun being myself.

Are you wearing any pieces or accessories that are of special significance or that carry a story behind it?
This shirt is my own design for ZIZTAR's SS18 collection – it hasn't been released yet. The text says "RESTORE THE HEART BROKEN," which is the theme of the collection – it's about restoring what is fallen, restoring your heart. Not about fixing it, but more about going back to its original state. It's your choice, and you can choose to go back to your original happiness.

Where did you get your outfit?

The sunglasses are from For Art's Sake, the skirt is from & Other Stories, the shoes are Alexander McQueen, the bag was handmade by a friend in Hong Kong and the rings are a mixture of & Other Stories and gifts from family.
