The 12 western star signs are grouped together into four astrological families: Fire, Earth, Air and Water. What better way to show off your personality than with a selection of cosmic cosmetics?
We've seen the future, and it's you, rocking one of these star-sign-inspired beauty styles:
🔥 Fire 🔥
Aries, Leo, Sagittarius

Fiery sisters from Aries, Leo and Sagittarius, why not embrace that inner heat and turn up the temperature on your lips! Dark, creamy reds and purple shades are ideal for fall, and there's no reason you can't have even more fun by playing with ombré effects, using a clean lip brush to blend the two colors together where they meet. Whenever working with a bold lip, especially if you include a gradient finish, avoid going too heavy on the eyes. Nude or natural-looking lids paired with a smoldering pout is a winning combination.
If you'd rather focus on the eyes (and why wouldn't you?), try getting creative with a classic cat flick, and use a red or burgundy eyeliner to bring out the pigment of your irises for an edgy, urban look, or apply a fiery shade all over the eyelid, ensuring that your blush and lipstick share the same warm undertones.
🌍 Earth 🌎
Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn
You earthy girls are spoilt for choice when it comes to Zodiac-inspired beauty – especially as the "no-makeup makeup" look is this year's biggest trend. Celebrate what Mother Nature gave you! Pucker up this fall with a rosy, blossoming lip tint, or brown shades in matte and creamy textures. Just be careful if you like to use liner with brown lipstick, as not matching the two colors perfectly can leave you falling into the '90s throwback category, rather than vintage chic.
A matte complexion is also a good way to transition your sunny summer style into winter. Those with naturally dry skin should be careful, however, as many matte foundations can further dehydrate the skin and cause flaking. If that is the case, opt for a demi-mattifying liquid or cushion foundation for dry skin as opposed to a mousse-based one, which is better for oily skin types. Don't forget some XXL bushy brows to frame the eye area and balance a smoky eye.
🌬️ Air 🌬️
Gemini, Libra, Aquarius
Let yourselves drift into your own special dream worlds, airy ladies, and show your creative, ethereal personality with some atmospheric autumnal makeup. Pinks, purples, glitter and feathery lashes are yours to play with – what a breath of fresh air for your beauty kit.
A pastel palette doesn't have to be restricted to the springtime. Try creating dreamy but dramatic color gradients across the lid and under the eye for an arty look worthy of any gallery. A word of warning: when using pink-toned eyeshadow, keep lips neutral or nude to avoid clashing. Alternatively, you could bring the soft purple hues to your lips and try a matte lilac or creamy lavender to show off your otherworldly qualities.
🌊 Water 🌊
Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces
Dive into fall, you water beauties, with aquamarine accents and lots and lots of gloss. It might be a predictable palette for water-based star signs, but aqua-blue is such a pretty one that we're willing to take the plunge anyway. Whether it be under the eye like Olivia Munn for her Lego Movie premiere in L.A., swept across the lid itself in a bright matte or used in mystical metallics, turquoise is our go-to-blue whatever the season.
What else conjures up images of the deep sea? Gloss and shimmer! If blue isn't your hue, why not go for gold with a tint bold enough to scare off the bad weather. Our top trick for getting the glossiest eyeshadow in town is to mix your selected shade with a little lip balm or face gloss, and apply with a clean brush. For a more natural-looking version, forget the color and just give yourself a nude, mermaid-esque sheen under the eyes, across the lids and on the lips.
