Paris Street Style: Like Mother, Like Daughter

LOVE Gucci.

share with your friends
Every week, we take to the streets of Paris to photograph and chat with the women and men whose sartorial instincts we’d love to steal. Meet the people who are turning the Parisian sidewalks into runways – and find out everything you need to get their look.

When you're walking around the majestic Place Vendôme, home to fashion houses like Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Balenciaga, you're bound to stumble across women sporting head-to-toe designer goods – but none as adorable as this mother-daughter duo decked out in Gucci, just in time for Mother's Day. We spotted Eva (left) and Sue (right) as they were window shopping on Rue Saint Honoré, perfectly coordinated with their iconic loafers and polished shoulder bags. We loved the way they each styled the illustrious brand, from Eva's sporty-chic outfit and surprising accessories to Sue's more laid-back, cool-girl look.

Are they a famous Gucci-sponsored blogging duo, or has Sue been spending a little too much time scrolling through the brand's Instagram memes? And most importantly, at a time when many women are consciously worrying about turning into their mothers, was this mother-daughter twinning actually intentional? Eva and Sue explain their improbable outfit below.

What is your name and where are you from?
Our names are Eva and Sue, and we're both from Amsterdam but visiting Paris for the week. My daughter works as a wardrobe assistant on TV sets, and I work as a flight attendant.

Why did you choose to wear this outfit today?
E: Gucci loafers are great for walking in – they're so comfortable they feel like slippers! This pair is actually vintage, I bought them online but had to get both of the soles re-done because they were completely worn-out. I took the risk, but it was worth it – they fit me perfectly. By the way, we do wear clothes other than Gucci. I love Isabel Marant, for example.
I always have this leather jacket on. As for the matching, it was random and completely unplanned... we packed our suitcases separately! We thought: oh my goodness, should we go out like this?!

How would you describe your personal style?
E: Casual, sporty and sometimes classic.
S: I'd say the same... and also not too serious.

Where did you get your outfit?
E: The scarf is Hermès, the blazer and shirt are both Uniqlo, the track pants are from C&A and the bag and loafers are Gucci.
The leather jacket is by Pele Che Cho, it was actually crafted from recycled leather. The jeans are Levi's 501s and the bag and shoes are Gucci.

Are you wearing any pieces or accessories that are of special significance or that carry a story behind it?
E: These pins remind me of traveling because I bought them in Japan. I love Japanese comics and cartoons! I'm also a gadget collector, which is why we're actually heading to Colette right now. And my Hermès scarf was a gift from a friend for my 50th birthday.
S: This Gucci bag, because it was my first real designer bag.
