This Is What You Need To Do To Your Hair Before 2017

A new year is upon us, and what better way to celebrate than with a new haircut? Forgo those long, damaged locks for a trendy winter crop. After all, split ends are so last summer.

Trichoptilosis schizotrichia, aka split ends, is a common problem experienced by everyone with long hair. In essence, it's when the tips of your hair break or fray, causing it to look static. Leaving split ends untreated for long periods of time can lead to further damage.

With winter underway, your hair is especially prone to breakage owing to the cold weather, which makes it brittle and susceptible to splitting if not properly nourished. Plus, if you're someone who uses appliances that give off excessive amounts of heat, then your locks are even more likely to snap due to the exposure to extreme elements (going from scalding hot to freezing temperatures).

If your hair came home from vacation sun-kissed and just a little stressed, then now is the perfect time to take the plunge and get it cut, before the damage spreads further. After all, the best way to keep your hair looking fresh is with regular trimming.

Say goodbye to dry hair and split ends, and hello to a cute new 'do. Afterwards, your only winter worry will be avoiding hat hair (and trust us, it is possible).
