How To Make Your Favorite Spring Clothes Office Appropriate

Overalls in the office? Yes please.

Spring has arrived in the City of Light, and the WTG team is all the better for it. Weekends are spent sitting terrace-side, wearing lazily tied wrap dresses and nursing a bottle of rosé. They’re for dusting winter off our shoulders with the help of an asymmetrical blouse. But what happens when we head to the office come Monday? How can you wear your spring closet to work and get away with it?

Here are 5 tips on how to style spring-time essentials into office-appropriate looks:

Nothing says warm weather better than linen. The fabric is light, airy and usually comes in a range of pastel and barley pigmented hues that make you look like you just came back from a weekend on the French riviera. We suggest hunting down a linen blazer and pant, and pairing them with a dressier silk blouse for a breezy office outfit.

Overalls in the office? Yes please. Dress up your denim darlings by pairing them with a fitted or oversized blazer and a pair of heels (bonus points if you have a pair of white overalls). For the final touch, wear a conservative, frilly button-up blouse that would make even Queen Victoria jelly. Be warned, though: you're going to want to steer away from wearing overalls that are too distressed. Unless you are, in fact, a painter and decorator.

When it comes to trouser choices, nothing keeps you cooler than culottes (seriously though, the air circulation is real). We suggest wearing a pair of cropped, wide-leg pants with a gathered cotton blouse and a pair of chunky, oversized earrings.

You know that pair of embellished heels you wore to to brunch on Sunday? Whip 'em out again for work with a fitted pencil or A-line skirt. While you're playing around with texture, take this as an opportunity to do master the art of pattern power-clashing by wearing a gingham skirt and a polka dot blouse.

When in doubt, tulle it out. You know that go-to winter outfit of a skinny jean and an elegant v-neck sweater? Well, you can carry it into spring by simply throwing a whispy tulle skirt over it – very Molly Goddard. For workwear, stick to a softer, pastel colored skirt layered over a monochromatic outfit of fitted pants and a chic shirt.
