Holiday Gift Guide: For The Guy You're Dating

Whether it's been two weeks or two years, it's always stressful.

It's Holiday season. That means you're looking for (and probably stressing over) what to buy for your loved ones, whether you're shopping for your cousin or for your cat. That's where we come in  — leave it to the Wheretoget editors to do the hunting for you. Consider this series your online destination for finding the perfect present, because throughout the month, we will be publishing curated guides to help you find exactly what you need so that no one in your entourage is overlooked.

Christmas can be a particularly stressful time of year if you’re in a relationship. It’s even more of a minefield if you’ve only just started dating, or if you haven't actually said the words yet but he likes all your pictures on Instagram so you reckon it's getting pretty serious. How much do you spend? How thoughtful do you go? Is your new partner even going to get you anything?

For this gift guide, we’ve broken it down into three simple categories. Stick to cute and nerdy gifts for newer relationships: they types of things that you can pretend you “just picked up because you saw it” (even though you’ve been stressing about it since September) and aren’t embarrassing to give if your new bae hasn’t realized that the relationship was at the gift-exchange stage yet. Note: if that is the case, don’t feel bad. He’ll spoil you for your next birthday out of guilt and embarrassment (the perfect gifts).

Next up we have a selection of fashionable pieces for a partner you know a little better and want to treat to something that they’ll appreciate beyond the Holiday season, like a pair of touchscreen leather gloves – because tech fashion can actually be stylish – or a new shirt for work.

But the best thing to buy a guy is what we like to call “more of a present for you,” meaning something that on the surface is a selfless, thoughtful gift for your boyfriend, but it’s actually you who ultimately reaps the benefits: some boxer briefs that make is butt look great, a perfume that you love, a cozy sweater that you will have stolen for yourself by February.

Once you’ve selected the type of gift your partner will appreciate, we also get that you have a budget to work with. So each of our selections is in price order from lowest to highest to make things just that extra bit easier for you.
