Dress Like A Racecar Driver, According To Miu Miu Resort 2018

Drive baby, drive.

Miu Miu has outdone itself again with its latest collection. The younger sister brand of Prada presented its Resort 2018 show at the prestigious Automobile Club de Paris, where the interior had been decked out with a pink carpet with go-faster stripes to get the muses and friends of the brand ready for a thrilling ride.

The library was turned into a car-themed room and dotted with small tables as though it were a cabaret – with champagne on each one, of course. Once the guests had taken their seats, Canadian rapper Tommy Genesis opened the show to pump up the energy, followed by models in outfits inspired by F1 racers, with embroidered patches and tough leather accessories sitting next to feminine footwear and a palette of pastels. What felt so fresh about this collection was that race car driving is generally associated with men, so when Miu Miu dropped this stylish collection it opened up the dialogue about female participation in the sport, too.

Gender politics aside, the runway was filled with winning details from which we're going to take style cues all summer, not just the clothes themselves but the accessories and the styling, too. It largely consisted of rompers and jumpsuits, all updated with embroidered badges like the ones you see on the circuit and utility details like large, square pockets (for, you know, spanners and stuff). It wasn't all greaser gear though. Miucca Prada added jeweled collars and cute patterns aplenty – and, of course, more than one printed faux-fur coat.

In terms of accessories, Miu Miu girls are going to have to get ready to fight hard for their tough-but-still-pretty bags and shoes. While many of the models rocked an oversized fanny pack, others styled their mechanic's jumpsuits with the sleeves tied around their waists with a contrasting top to create a look that we're going to call "post-race chic." Our favorite shoes were adorned with finish line-style checks, making every step a victory.
