These Are The Trends British Girls Are Wearing This Season

The Union Jack is not one of them.

Brits are known for their eccentric style – as much as we might want to imagine them as prim English roses in sundresses having high-tea all the time, when you actually go to London, the energy is through the roof. They know how to mix fun, quirky details into chic looks and keep it fresh every day – which is no surprise when you think that some of the biggest fashion-fix brands, like Topshop and Boohoo, are from the U.K.

To give us a little seasonal sartorial inspiration, we peeked into the wardrobes of six of our favorite British fashionistas. What we found was a selection of easy-to-copy style cues that are perfect for every summer occasion, from day to night, land to sea.

Check out the top 6 trends British bloggers are wearing this summer:

Think Pink

This major spring style continues to dominate Insta, with pink pieces are flooding our feed. Megan Ellaby's pink minidress caught our attention with its eye-catching color and simple design – plus she styled it with coordinating tassel earrings and mules, making her outfit a pink triple threat. If you are not keen on the head-to-toe monochrome look, take a baby step in the right direction with an on-trend, fuschia ruffle skirt or frill pants and white tee.

Dressy Culottes

For a mid-summer evening look, we tend to go for a floaty maxi dress (or a skimpy mini one). Culottes could be a fresh alternative to stand out from the crowd on a warm night. The cut makes them breathable and easy to move in, and they also elongate your legs and work well with any type of heel. Take note of how Anna Gardner's look matches a pair of classy culottes with a trendy off-the-shoulder top for a chic cocktail affair.

White Statement

White is also a strong summer color choice, plus it helps reflect the sun's rays meaning it's helps take the heat off, too. Make a statement with your bright whites this season by trading in your basic button-down for something with a little more razzle-dazzle. Lorna Luxe's lace-up blouse adds a free-spirited finish to her raw-hem denim shorts – proving, once again, that a (ruffled) white tee and (distressed) blue jean is a winning combination.

Embroidered Beach

Of course, no summer style would be complete without a swimsuit. While French fashionistas opt for the chic, striped one-piece, the Brits have more fun injecting sweet floral motifs into a beach look. Whether it's a bathing suit or a bikini, look out for embroidered flower details that will make you standout poolside or on the beach. Amy Bell's sophisticated two-piece is double the fun with its ruffled neckline, adding a hint of South American flair to her look.

Easy Linen

If it's too hot to handle outside, pick something in a lightweight linen to beat the heat. While it can be tricky to avoid wrinkles, this fabric offers a casual vibe that is perfect for vacations and warm, lazy weekends. A linen shirt is an easy way to tackle this trend: take a look at how Lily Pebbles' striped blue blouse compliments her denim. You can't go wrong with a linen dress though, especially if you pair it with espadrilles or mules.

Espadrille Wedges

We have been looking for the right way to pull off wedges, and this is it. The best thing about this kind of chunky sole is that they give you all the height of a stiletto, without any of the discomfort. The best thing about shoes like Carrie Santana da Silva's is that they're a super sunshine-y look – not only because the braided jute would all but dissolve in any other weather, but the flirty wrap-around detail is the perfect accompaniment to any day-to-night outfit, meaning you can make it from the beach to the tiki bar in style.
