These Brands Are Getting Us Pumped For Pride

Love is love.

June 1st marks the beginning of a month-long celebration of LGBTQ communities around the world. When it comes to showing our support for equality for all, there's no better way to do it than by wearing the colors of the rainbow flag that represents both the LGBTQ community, and also broader values of peace and solidarity. Both in sentiment and appearance, we couldn't be happier to show our colors this month, and beyond.

Whether you're planning to join the millions of people around the world who will be parading through the streets from San Francisco to Brighton, attending discussions or crashing parties, make sure you show your support in style. We especially love it when the fashion industry uses its influence to spread a positive message, especially one that everyone – no matter who they are or how they identify – can take part in. Which is why we just had to share with you our selection of stores that have created collections specially designed to show your support for the LGBTQ community, at Pride, of course, but also wherever you go, and whose net profits go towards making the world a better, more diverse, more inclusive place.

Check out the brands that are getting us pumped for Pride with their own charitable collections of on-point apparel:

Urban Outfitters

Urban Outfitters has presented a pop-tastic collection of pastel-colored pieces emblazoned with slogans reading “love is love,” “pride” and cartoonish illustrations of hands creating love hearts, in collaboration with rapper Taylor Bennet. All proceeds from the small range of tees, sweaters, wall hangings and baseball caps will go to GLSEN, a U.S.-based charity that works in schools to promote equality.

#Takepride is the hashtag to follow at Target, whose extensive range of rainbow-themed pieces has got you covered for any Pride event you might attend this month: whether you’re hosting a picnic or heading to a pool party. They’ve totally hit the nail on the head with their fashion-forward offerings, including embroidered denim and a raffia shopper that can be used all summer long.

Nike

If there’s one industry that needs to talk about LGBTQ inclusivity, it’s the sports industry. Nike’s Betrue campaign has been doing an excellent job of opening up the dialogue since it launched six years ago, raising roughly $2.5 million for various associated charities and initiatives in the meantime.

Converse

We know that Converse is technically owned by Nike, but the Yes To All campaign is definitely worth special mention – just look at those re-worked classic high tops! With a focus on LGBTQ rights, Converse's initiative also incorporates broader issues of gender and identity, and all net proceeds go towards the It Gets Better Project and Miley Cyrus’ Happy Hippie Foundation.

Human rights campaign

As the largest civil rights organisation working towards LGBTQ equality in the U.S., the Human Rights Campaign is well-stocked throughout the year with jewelry and accessories that show support for the community. Our top pick has got to be the "Make America LGBTQ Again" baseball cap that parodies the merchandise used by President Trump during his election campaign.
