Milan Fashion Week threw some serious styles at us over the past seven days – some of which we were expecting, some we didn’t see coming at all. But among all of the one-off accessories and unique pieces that caught our attention, there were several similarities we spotted on multiple runways.
From the larger-than-life accessories to the subtle finishes and cutesy styling, Milan truly gave us all it had and, in our opinion, regained its title as the fashion capital.
There were some key looks that we don’t need to wait until the next sartorial season to style. We’ve picked out our top four tropes from Milan’s SS18 shows that you can start wearing straight away.
Check out our 4 favorite trends from MFW that you can incorporate into your closet immediately:
Some of the headwear we saw on the runway would probably need its own seat on a commercial flight: from Missoni and Giorgio Armani’s floppy straw hats that will certainly keep the sun off to Dolce & Gabbana’s shady design, this is a great look to try if you’re chasing some winter sun with a late vaycay – if not, try a fall-appropriate wide-brimmed style to keep the rain and wind out of your face.

Pantsuits and jumpsuits, step aside: the catsuit has made an epic return. This bodycon onesie is the perfect power outfit for any occasion: style yours with some slouchy boots for a boss woman brunch look, or with a stiletto and coordinating clutch for a soiree.

lustre for life
Not quite metallic, not quite shimmering, we are loving the glossy textures that caught the light across Milan’s ready-to-wear shows this past week. The finish works especially well with airy pastels – perfect for uplifting an autumnal outfit.

stockings and sandals
The fashion set has officially reclaimed the former faux pas styling of the sock-and-sandal combo, giving it a fresh finish with sheer or printed stockings to contrast with the shoes. Perfect for anyone who hasn’t quite accepted that it’s too cold to wear their favorite summer sandals.
