Booties are a wardrobe staple for both men and women today. Ankle boots look cute with skinny jeans, knee highs look awesome with girly knitted dresses or jeggings, and every hipster loves his Dr Martens. It seems strange that booties have been worn for centuries for work but did not get popular as a fashion item until the 1960s. Especially when we consider how often we see them on the red carpet and catwalk today. Scroll through Tumblr and we see them in every style from grunge lace ups to smart tan Chelsea boots. The 60s started the trend for booties but this is more than a fad, it is a match made in shoe heaven.
